Locals Only Preserve Library:  Tea & Bannock
January 27, 2018 1 to 3pm
AKA, 424 20th Street West

Join AKA, CHEP Good Food Inc. and Holly Schmidt and Alana Bartol, Locals Only January artists-in-residence, for a come-and-go tea to launch the Preserve Library. Throughout the year, the Preserve Library will collect preserved foods, from jams to pickles to pemmican, as well as recipes, techniques and stories of preservation from visitors and communities members. Recipes in the Preserve Library will be available to take home as a way of sharing traditional and contemporary methods of preserving foods.

Free and all ages. Everyone is warmly welcomed to join us! Bring a recipe or a favourite preserving trick to include in the Preserve Library (blank recipe cards will be available).

Locals Only is a large-scale multi-year art project that explores food security, community-led resource development, and intergenerational exchange in Saskatoon’s core neighbourhoods. Locals Only is one of 200 exceptional projects funded through the Canada Council for the Arts’ New Chapter initiative. With this $35 million initiative, the Council supports the creation and sharing of the arts in communities across Canada. Locals Only was developed with preliminary research funding from the Saskatchewan Arts Board Artists in Communities grant.
