STREET MEET: SASKATOON’S SECOND ANNUAL STREET, PUBLIC AND GRAFFITI ART FESTIVAL
Open Call for Saskatchewan-Based Street, Public or Graffiti Artists

Street Meet is very pleased to host the second year our three-day event for the purposing of showcasing alternative art in Saskatoon’s public spaces. Last year Street Meet showcased both local and national Feature Artists whose works ranged from Haida graffiti and ‘icing tags’ to site-specific performance and unexpected public ‘advertising’. This year the festival will host international and national guests, with the addition of this Open Call for our local Feature Artist.
We invite applications from Saskatchewan-based artists working within alternative forms of public art, including (but not limited to) street art, non-permanent public art, graffiti, performance, etc., to submit proposals for Street Meet 2014. Festival Feature Artworks will be completed within the city of Saskatoon, with a focus on the Riversdale area whenever possible. Street Meet is dedicated to paying artist fees, as well as materials**, travel, and accommodations for our Feature Artists.
Street Meet facilitates the production, presentation and discussion of diverse public contemporary art with an emphasis on innovative artistic practices. By curating artists with alternative public art-making practices from both Saskatchewan and abroad, Street Meet strives to enrich Saskatoon’s public art content while engaging the community in a free public forum about artistic practices and critical discourses that provides opportunities for collaboration, education and exposure within our city. Street Meet is an independent organization supported by a variety of Saskatoon community organizations, including aka artist-run, PAVED Media Arts, and SCYAP.
Submission Materials:
1) Proposal: Briefly and clearly describe your project proposal for Street Meet festival. Provide your physical and material requirements, including any special equipment and technical needs. Discuss how your proposed project relates to your current artistic practice and the broader context of your interests in art. Maximum 300 words
2) Artist Bio: A selection of related professional, practical, or exhibition experience. Please include contact information. Maximum 250 words
3) Budget: an informal but realistic outline of foreseeable costs related to your project
4) Support Materials: Up to ten pieces of support material, including digital images, videos, text excerpts, or audio clips
5) Image List: A numbered image list with the title, medium, dimensions, date or other necessary descriptors. Label image files with number and title, which corresponds with your image list. For example: 01. Title. Latex paint, wall. 24” x 24”. 2014
Street Meet only accepts digital submissions via e-mail. Please format all written materials as a single .pdf document. Support material files must be in jpg format, and have a maximum resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels at 72 dpi, or no larger than 1 MB in size. A maximum length of 5 minutes for audio/video files will be accepted. Street Meet accepts links to video and audio work hosted online. Support materials can be submitted as email attachments, or in a Dropbox file for which the link is clearly provided.
