On behalf of AKA Artist-Run and PAVED Arts, 20 Above Holdings is pleased to announce that BlackFlash Magazine has completed their move into our newly created, second floor suite located at 424 20th Street West. Please join us for an informal “meet and greet” to welcome BlackFlash into our building, on Thursday, July 10th at 4pm. Coffee, refreshments and treats will be on hand.
BlackFlash Magazine is dedicated to promoting photo-based and new media art in Canada. With a commitment to producing challenging writing, BlackFlash publishes a unique view on thought-provoking artwork. The magazine was founded in 1983 by The Photographer’s Gallery in Saskatoon, SK. under the name The Photographer’s Gallery. In 1984 the name was changed to BlackFlash.
Given the interwoven histories of all three cultural organizations, we are very excited to welcome BlackFlash Magazine to its new home. The addition to our compliment of artistic production and programming will make the building itself that much more of a cultural hive, just as it will present exciting new opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing.
The BlackFlash suite at 424 20th Street West was built following a community consultation, conducted through a “Capacity Building” project initiated in 2012.
20 Above Holdings would like to thank the Saskatchewan Arts Board for their generous support in developing this project through the Capacity Building granting program.
