AKA Gallery and the Saskatchewan Craft Council want to discover the artists, artisans and craftspeople who have come to call Saskatchewan their home and those who have left the province to pursue their work elsewhere. We would like your help in bringing these artists to our attention—maybe it’s you or someone you know. Either way, we’d like to hear from you!
We have recently teamed up to plan an exhibition titled Comings and Goings. Saskatchewan has long been a crossroads of a diverse array of creative practices and our plan is to give them centre stage in this long overdue exhibition. AKA Gallery, as an artist-run centre dedicated to all forms of contemporary art, and the Saskatchewan Craft Council, as a centre dedicated to the self-determination of artisans and the maintenance of material culture, are excited to explore the various overlaps between near and far, art and craft, tradition and innovation, material and idea.
If you are an artist, or know of artists, not from Saskatchewan but living here, or from Saskatchewan but living somewhere else, please contact Dagmara Genda, director of AKA Gallery at director@akagallery.org or at 306 652 0044.
