We’re currently seeking submissions from all of our members to participate in our Biannual AKA Members’ Show and Sale.
This exhibition is open to any and all AKA members in good standing. AKA invites submissions of no more than three works per member, in digital format (jpg file format, a maximum of 1 MB file size each, maximum resolution of 1024 x 768, RGB or grayscale, and any video files must be in avi, mov or mpeg format, viewable in QuickTime or VLC).
Members will be responsible for installation and striking of their works, with assistance from AKA staff and volunteers.
This exhibition will take place December 10th to 14th 2012, and the deadline for submission of works is November 15th, 2012. All forms of work are welcome: there will be a 50/50 split of any works sold between the gallery and the artist and the format will be a silent auction.
This year’s exhibition will be juried by the new Chief Curator from the Mendel Art Gallery Lisa Baldissera. Baldissera was Curator of Contemporary Art at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria from 1999 – 2009, where she produced more than 50 exhibitions by regional, Canadian and international artists. She holds degrees from the U of S, UBC and is developing a PhD project on Emily Carr at Goldsmith College, University of London.
