Kerri Reid is a visual artist who was based out of Toronto for the past few eyars, where she taught at the Toronto School of Art and the University of Guelph. Originally from Vancouver, she studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and the University of Guelph, has exhibited both nationally and internationally, and has participated in residencies in Iceland and Dawson City. Reid currently resides in Bruno, Saskatchewan.

Her artwork often involves a series of restorative gestures with broken and discarded objects she comes across in her daily life. In highlighting object that more typically exist in the periphery of consciousness, Reid’s work suggest that even the most mundane, or seemingly useless item be treated with the utmost care.

Kerri’s artist talk is at AKA Gallery on November 18th, 2010, at 8 PM.

You can see more of Kerri’s work here, at her web site. The images below are from the installation Things Fall Apart, from 2009.
