AKA and Paved (with Holophon) had an amazing response and turnout for our Sounds Like…Audio Art Festival II this year, and part of that is due to interested parties and sound artists from near and far coming to Saskatoon for that three night event. In that spirit, Send + Receive A Festival of Sound v14 is coming up in Winnipeg, and here is what you need to know for that event. And Jeff Allport, who performed the first night of Sounds Like…with Gil Arno and Rob Pederson, and whose two person exhibition with Kara Uzelman, Warblers, was at AKA at the same time, is one of the featured performers.

The 14th edition of send + receive: a festival of sound will take place from October 17 – 20, 2012 at various venues in Winnipeg. This edition will feature performances and works by artists from around the world that explore distinct interpretations of NATURAL SOUND. Showcasing acoustic works, music created with water, stones, nature field-recordings, breath, the body and more…

Featuring performances by:

Akio Suzuki (JP), Tomoko Sauvage (JP/FR), Nmperign (US), the Rita (BC), Angela Forget (MB) and Jeffrey Allport (SK)

Featuring works by: Chris Watson (UK), Douglas Quin (US), Jana Winderen (NO), Hope Peterson (MB), Jane Tingley (QC), Garth Hardy (MB), Jamie Woollard (MB/QC), George Brecht (US), Christian Wolff (US) ‘stones’ performed by the send + receive Temporary Ensemble (MB)
