Christof Migone / Running With Sounds / (11AM-1PM)
How do ideas take form? How does one embark on the process of extracting, editing and distilling an idea into a presentable format? In other words, how do we run with concepts? In this workshop Christof Migone will discuss the various considerations, from the theoretical and aesthetical to the practical, at play when a work is in progress. He will present some of his current works in development as examples but invites participants to bring their own.

Anna Friz / Playing With Waves / (1:30PM-3:30PM)
Though the heyday of terrestrial broadcast radio may be past, the medium of radio remains a potent cultural instrument for artistic experiments. From neighborhood live pirate radio to unstable multi-channel installations to divining for signal in Hertzian space, transmission artists re-frame radio as an open, indeterminate, heterogeneous process; prone to tangents, interference, affective static, and reverie, where radio may be played as an instrument or used to evoke invisible landscapes. This session serves as an overview of historical and contemporary radio experiments, emphasizing ways to play with waves outside of the studio, with some personal examples and table top demonstration.

Ken Gregory / BZZSSSTT ZZZZORK POP!!  /(4PM-6PM)
Ken Gregory will talk about his media arts projects with an emphasis on looking at how he uses Max/MSP.  This will include a look ‘under the hood’ of his audio soundscape performance software which was created to make his 5.1 surround sound  installation, fire river plane stone.
Max/MSP is a software toolset  of predefined software objects that can be used to create your own software  to manipulate various digital datas such as audio, video,  MIDI,  graphics, serial operations, TC/IP communications, etc. in your own way.  Max/MSP is the way to make your computer do things that reflect your individual ideas and dreams. Many artists are using Max to create complex and interesting installation and performance works incorporating amongst others, networked,  lighting, sensors, robotics, electronics, visual and audio elements.
