Where do YOU fit in the “CREATIVE ECOLOGY” of SASKATCHEWAN?
How important are CREATIVITY, ARTISTS and the ARTS to YOU and YOUR COMMUNITY?
The Saskatchewan Partnership for Arts Research (SPAR) needs:
Artists and All Saskatchewan Residents for a grassroots study of the Arts Ecology of Saskatchewan.
By “arts ecology” we are referring to the arts sector as functioning like an interconnected system – a web or network – linking together all kinds of artists, arts organizations, arts patrons, members of the public, and whole communities.
Complete our surveys and enter to win an iPod Nano.
Are You a Saskatchewan Resident (over 18)?
The Saskatchewan Partnership for Arts Research (SPAR) needs volunteers to participate in a 12-15 minute online survey. We’ll ask you about:
· Your connections with artists and arts organizations,
· your own engagement in creative activities, and
· the value you place on artists and their work.
Visit our website and follow the link to the survey: www2.uregina.ca/spar.
Deadline for completion of the survey is May 14th. Individuals can also complete the survey by telephone or on paper by contacting the SPAR office.
Are You a SASKATCHEWAN ARTIST (over 18)?
SPEAK UP! BE COUNTED!
Please help us understand the ARTS ECOLOGY of SASKATCHEWAN from the ARTIST’S point of view.
We actually know very little about how this “arts ecology” really functions in Saskatchewan. In order to understand it better, SPAR has developed an online survey especially for artists (18 and older).
We need your help to learn more about:
· The kind of networks artists build and depend on for their work
· How artists define their communities
· How artists connect and contribute to their communities
· How artists are benefitting from and contributing to the thriving Saskatchewan economy.
If you are an artist and have already been invited to participate in the on-line survey,
PLEASE submit your response before the deadline: May 14th.
Artists can also complete the survey by telephone or on paper by contacting the SPAR office.
If you are an artist but have not received an invitation to participate, please contact SPAR to add your name to the list of participants in this study.
You can also go to the Saskatchewan Arts Alliance website and sign up on the Artist Registry. It is the only way to ensure you are counted as an artist living and working in Saskatchewan.

How Your Answers Will Help:
What we learn from these surveys will help SPAR partners, other arts organizations/agencies, and governments to develop appropriate programs, policies, and funding to further strengthen both the arts and the cultural and economic fabric of the whole province.
This study is being supported by the SPAR partners (Saskatchewan Arts Alliance, Saskatchewan Arts Board, SaskCulture and the University of Regina) with major funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. It has been approved on ethical grounds by the Research Ethics Boards of the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan. All participation is voluntary. For further information, please go to the SPAR website at www2.uregina.ca/spar/, or contact Mary Blackstone, SPAR Director at spar@uregina.ca or 306-337-3165.
