Street Meet is accepting applications for feature artists to participate in the 2017 Street Meet Festival
Application Deadline July 1, 2017
CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – Street Meet 2017
Street Meet is a not-for-profit group which facilitates a three-day event in Saskatoon’s public spaces. Since 2013, the annual Street Meet Festival has exhibited a variety of artists and projects operating within the street, public, and graffiti art genres. At the festival’s core is a critical response to the permanency of sculptural public art in Saskatoon. Street Meet provides more immediate or ephemeral alternatives to such artwork, while simultaneously investigating public art’s role in the urban environment.
Artists are encouraged to submit proposals that respond to the urban environment in ways that diverge from conventional, established modes of public art production. Selected artists will work with Street Meet, local businesses, and building owners to arrange a site for the proposed project in Saskatoon’s Riversdale Neighbourhood. Artists will also be responsible for conducting a brief public presentation of their work on Street Meet’s Art Walk during the festival weekend. Artists are also encouraged to participate in a community discussion on public art alongside the festival’s keynote speaker on the final day of the festival. Street Meet pays CARFAC fees to participating artists.
